About Us
In the beginning of the year 2003 a group of enthusiastic pioneers fell in love with the nature and unspoiled beauty of the Mergui (Myeik) Archipelago in the south of Myanmar (Burma). Love and passion for this forgotten paradise led us to the decision to share the unique experience, traveling through this remote destination, with scuba divers and nature lovers from all over the world.
“Moby Dick Adventures was born”
After we opened our first Office in Yangon / Myanmar
(Burma) and the Moby Dick Restaurant and Operations Office
in Kawthaung (Victoria Point) / Myanmar (Burma), we managed
to obtained the very first tourist transport license for the
Mergui Archipelago issued to a Myanmar (Burma) based foreign
join-venture company.
In 2004 we expanded our business into Thailand by building
up our Scuba Diving Liveaboard and Adventure Cruise
Operation at Karon Beach on Phuket / Thailand.
At this time we put our 37 foot ocean-going speedboat “MV Moby Dick” into operation for scuba diving and snorkeling day trips between Khao Lak / Thailand and the Similan Island / Thailand.
Followed by our comfortable scuba diving liveaboard “M/V Nautica”, designed and custom built to modern safety standards for scuba diving cruises and adventure charters around the Mergui Archipelago / Myanmar and the Andaman Sea in Thailand. She was launched in November 2004 and moved from Yangon / Myanmar (Burma) to Phuket / Thailand for her first season.
In December 2005 “S/V Sea Gipsy” our burmese Junk-Style motor-sailing cruiser went on her first turn. Her spacious layout and unique design creates a wonderful tranquil atmosphere, which is the ideal platform for our daily snorkeling and adventure cruises around Phuket / Thailand and the Phang Nga Archipelago / Thialand.
Today Moby Dick Co., Ltd. is one of the leading scuba diving liveaboard and adventure cruise operators in Thailand and Myanmar.
